Mind - For Better Mental Health

Access Our Services

"I find Folkestone Mind a lifeline." Sue

All our services are open to any Shepway resident who is experiencing or has experienced mental distress. There are a number of ways to access our services.

Community Services - Mind Resource Centre

Access to our service is by membership only. Membership is free and entitles members to take part in centre based activities e.g. textiles, music, arts and crafts, plus out-of-centre social activities including day trips, art, gardening, photography, clay workshops, horse-riding etc. Some activities are free and for others including meals there is a charge. Most of our activities are subsidised.

If you are experiencing mental health problems and feel our services would be of benefit to you, you may contact the Centre directly by phone, letter or email to apply for membership or via your G.P. If you are already in contact with the mental health services in this area you may apply via those services or via the local Social Services department or your care worker can put you in touch. You may also be in contact with the I.A.P.T. (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) who can also refer.

A weekly counselling service is also available to members.

We regret our service is only available to Shepway residents over the age of 18.

Community membership

Community membership offers access to our out-of-centre activities and courses which form part of our wellbeing programme. Referral to our wellbeing programme can be through any of the ways mentioned above. You may telephone for an initial appointment to join stating that you wish to become a Community member. Membership is free.

Charity membership

Anyone who wishes to support the work of Folkestone & District Mind may take up Annual Charity Membership which costs just 1.00p per annum. If you wish to join please complete the attached application form and post it to the address provided. You will be invited to the Annual General Meeting and receive a full copy of all reports. Please note you do not need to take out Charity Membership to access our services and, within our capability, we will provide advice, support and/or information to anyone when requested.
